Ed measured the definite gravity with an anti-freeze gauge, which showed the measurements on a small scale. It was where Dr. Ozel recommended in the patent, about as thick as chicken soup broth. Next, 10 feeder mice were purchased and given the new liquid, which Ed named "oleander soup", as their only source of liquid for two weeks, with all the mouse food they could eat. The mice gained weight, were kind of lazy, but remained alive and looking well.

Her oncologist referred her to an additional one physician who recommended some strong new chemotherapy, and discouraged her from going back on the oleander extract. In two months the chemo had slowed the bone cancer, but had also destroyed her kidneys. She died a month later of kidney failure, never taking an additional one drop of the oleander soup or Anvirzel, which had previously saved her life. But she trusted her oncologist, who was very nice and very persuasive. Thankfully, Betty did live to be 88 years of age. She had been a heavy, two pack a day smoker since Ed's father gave her a cigarette when she was 18. He died at 61 from coronary disease, directly linked to his heavy smoking.

Catrina had been dealing with Hepatitis-C, a serious liver condition, which often leads to liver cancer. She began development her own oleander soup and took it, hoping it would stop her condition. It did. In less than two months, her Hepatitis-C was gone. Her liver enzymes were normal. It has not returned in over two years. She has shared the formula with doctors from Mexico who are treating poor patients with aids, cancer, Hepatitis-c, and psoriasis. A friend of hers reports her rheumatoid arthritis symptoms have gone using the homemade remedy. Later in 2003, Ed was surfing the Internet, looking for sites that referenced "Anvirzel". He found the Minnesota Wellness Directory site, and read their remarks about how good the prospects were for this new extract made from poisonous oleander leaves. Ed e-mailed the host the formula and a short overview of his research. After the host, David Bonello, researched the plan and the soup recipe, including getting opinions from his herbalist and curative friends, he published the formula on his site in his June 2003 newsletter, with warnings about its use.

Primary vs Secondary

Brain tumors can be primary or secondary (metastasis from other sites). primary brain tumors are normally solitary, the most common ones in the dog being gliomas and meningiomas. In cats, the most common type are meningiomas and these can occur at many locations.

Benign vs Malignant

How is a brain tumor diagnosed?

History and Clinical Examination

Mri is the favorite option for diagnosing primary brain tumors.

Biopsy

This is the only way to definitively diagnose a brain tumor. The industrialized imaging techniques above offer much information, but they can occasionally confuse a tumor with a non cancerous mass or a cyst, and they also do not tell us the exact type of tumor present, and therefore the accepted rehabilitation and prognosis. The best type of biopsy is the Ct guided stereotactic brain biopsy system, which is rapid, literal, and quite safe. Cerebrospinal Fluid (Csf) Analysis

Csf diagnosis is useful for ruling out inflammatory causes of the symptoms, but tumor cells are rarely identified here. Increased levels of white blood cells and increased protein levels may be present in the Csf with many brain tumors, though this is not diagnostic. This test can be high risk when intracranial pressure is increased, as brain herniation can occur.

Treatment

Treatment is aimed at being either healing or palliative. healing rehabilitation eradicates the tumor or reduces its size, whilst palliative therapy reduces the surrounding cerebral edema and slows down the growth of the tumor. Palliative therapy also involves administering antiepileptic drugs, if seizures are occurring as a effect of the tumor.

Surgery

Whether this is an option depends on the normal health of the animal, and the literal, location, size, extent, invasiveness and nature of the tumor. Tumors such as meningiomas in cats can be removed successfully by surgery. However, surgical operation to take off tumors in confident locations such as the brainstem can be highly dangerous, perhaps resulting in death. Even partial discharge can advantage the animal though, particularly if the tumor is slow growing.

Radiotherapy

This is probably the most widely used form of rehabilitation for brain tumors. Radiation therapy can be used alone or in blend with other treatments. It is also useful in the rehabilitation of secondary brain tumors. The aim is to destroy the tumor without harming the normal tissue too much.

Chemotherapy

The main problem with chemotherapy for brain tumors is that many drugs do not cross the blood brain barrier. In addition, the tumor may only be sensitive to high doses, doses which are toxic to normal brain tissue and therefore unsuitable for use. However, some drugs have been used for this purpose that can cross the blood brain fence with reported success, including cytosine arabinoside, lomustine and carmustine.

Probable Outcome

Studies of animals that receive palliative rehabilitation (corticosteroids) for brain tumors show a survival range post diagnosis of 64 to 307 days. This demonstrates the inability to accurately predict life expectancy in these cases. What is confident is that the survival times significantly growth with surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy. Patients with stage 3 of this cancer have melanoma that has spread into lymph nodes near the customary tumor. This stage also involves in-transit metastasis that has skin or connective tissue that is more than 2 centimeters from the customary tumor. However, at this point it has not spread past the regional lymph nodes.

In stage 4, the melanoma has spread to lymph nodes that are a distance from the customary tumor or to internal organs. These organs are most often the lung, liver, brain, bone and then the gastrointestinal tract.
